The conference provides a premier platform for discussing a variety of views on a wide range of novel and important topics in the digital era. It focuses on all aspects of economics, digitalization, technology, governance, education, management, and sustainable development. The conference offers innovative solutions to important issues such as economic diversification, digital inequalities and business innovation for sustainability and the circular economy.
In line with Ahlia University (AU) commitment to contribute towards United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs), AU considers Social Responsibility and Sustainability as part of its prioritized strategies that is embedded in its core functions including teaching, research and community engagement. Therefore, to contribute to the sustainable development of its community, AU organizes the ICGER conference on an annual basis in order to promote quality research in salient topics towards raising awareness and promoting sustainable practices.
ICGER aims to attract a diverse audience of individuals with a keen interest in the complexities and implications of digitalization and trans-, interdisciplinary research. The primary target audience include:
- Academics and Researchers: economists, accountants, financial specialists, sociologists, political scientists, engineering and ICT specialists and other scholars studying globalization, economic development, sustainability and related fields.
- Policymakers: policymakers involved in shaping economic policies at national and international levels.
- Business Leaders, managers, entrepreneurs: those in positions seeking to understand and adapt to global economic trends.
- Students (undergraduate and postgraduate): students seeking to improve their research skills, disseminate research findings, and learn about the latest developments in the global economy.
The primary mode of delivery is English. However, there are opportunities for Arabic presentations and publications in Scopus-Indexed special issues that have been tagged with the conference.
The ICGER conference was conceived during the pandemic. Accordingly, it was envisioned as a virtual conference which has since evolved into a hybrid conference mode, combining the best of both worlds. Attendees can choose the format that best suits their needs, whether it's in-person networking via the physical conference or the convenience of virtual participation. This hybrid modality removes geographical barriers, allowing people from all over the world to attend and participate, in keeping with the aims of the conference.

Yes. The conference submissions that are accepted will be published in Scopus-Indexed publications including proceedings, books and special issues. The proceedings of the 2021 ICGER conference were published in the book series “Lecture Notes in Networks and Systems” issued by the international publishing house “Springer”. The proceedings of the 2022 ICGER conference were published in the book series “Communications in Computer and Information Science” issued by the international publishing house “Springer”. The book has a high impact factor and is listed in the “Scopus” database. Additionally, selected papers have been published in special issues and journals by Inderscience and Emerald.
Submitted papers should follow the theme of the conference. Papers should not exceed 5,000 words & 12 pages including references. Authors should submit original and anonymized papers in English, following author guidelines as per the website. Papers should not be submitted elsewhere, and should be below 15 % of similarity, as a single Word or LaTex document. The paper reviewing process is double-blind, therefore before submitting the paper, authors are requested to remove the names from the title page. This includes noticeable references to the authors in the text (if any). Authors are recommended not to shorten references and to put DOIs. This will allow for more accurate citation and attribution.
Criteria include:
- Original and significant information that warrants publication
- Sufficient understanding of the relevant literature in the field
- Methods employed are suitable and align with the research objectives
- Arguments are made based on appropriate concepts and theories
- The submission communicates its message clearly considering technical discourse of the field
- Submission identifies implications for theory, practice or society
- Discussions are adequately linked to the research objectives and literature
