Dr. Hidaya Al Lawati
Dr. Hidaya Al Lawati is an Assistant Professor of Accounting and the Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Studies at the College of Economics and Political Science, Sultan Qaboos University, Oman. She began her academic career at the university in 2007. In 2010, she completed her Master’s degree in Accounting at the University of New South Wales, Australia. Dr. Al Lawati was awarded her PhD degree in January 2021 from the University of Portsmouth, UK.
Dr. Al Lawati has made significant contributions to her field, publishing numerous articles in international refereed journals on topics including corporate governance, financial and narrative reporting, sustainable development goals, and tax avoidance. Her scholarly excellence was recognized with the prestigious Sharjah Award for Doctoral Dissertation in Administrative and Financial Science in the Arab World in June 2023.
In addition to her academic achievements, Dr. Al Lawati plays a vital role in national initiatives. She is a member of the national working team dedicated to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals 2030, reflecting her commitment to integrating sustainability into both academic and practical frameworks.
Dr. Al Lawati is also actively engaged in community service. She regularly conducts workshops on financial and managerial accounting and provides financial literacy awareness programs to various societies, educating individuals on wise money management and spending practices. Her dedication to community service underscores her commitment to using her expertise to benefit society at large.
